ABVP hooliganism in Allahabad University: A manifestation of extreme intellectual poverty

Friday, January 22, 2016

The ABVP is the mill that process and refine most of the literate, yet uneducated footsoldiers of the Sangh conglomerate. The ABVP rank and file consists mostly of the young men (hardly women) from the rich and upper middle class families of upper caste Hindu families. Majority of the ABVP members and activists belong to feudal landlord classes and their reactionary feudal mindset is reflected in their misogynist, anti-democratic and fascist attitude.

Siddharth Varadrajan, the editor of the alternative media portal www.thewire.in was heckled and abused during his visit to the Allahabad University. Siddharth Varadrajan along with the President of the Allahabad University Students Union, Richa Singh, became hostage of the saffron mob in the chamber of the Vice Chancellor of the university. The saffron toddlers kept on abusing the duo, calling Varadrajan a 'naxalite' and decorated him with the highest award of the Sangh abuse dictionary, 'anti-national'.

Though Varadrajan and Singh were later rescued by the proctor and his team after a call was made to the police, the ABVP hooliganism, at a time when the nation is rocked by the casteist murder of Rohith Vemula - the Dalit student, caused uproar among the progressive and democratic student forces of the country. The students and youth from all over the country along with the progressive forces condemned the rowdyism of the most prominent fascist brigade of the RSS.

What was the reason for the ABVP to create the ruckus in the campus of Allahabad University?

The reason was their bitter hatred for the progressive, critical and democratic voices in the country, which is playing a crucial role in uncovering the veil of nationalism that the Sangh goons are wearing to hoodwink the people in order to mortgage the nation to the big monopoly and finance capital led by the U.S. and its global allies.

The ABVP, which suffers from excessive inferiority complex due to the lack of any intellectual ingredients, feels jealous when it finds that critical voices are raising questions that they cannot answer properly with their crooked and unpolished intellect. They can only resort to violence and arson to attract some limelight from the corporate owned media, due to their utmost ideological and intellectual bankruptcy.

Few days ago the ABVP planned to organise a seminar in the Allahabad University campus with the notorious communal venom spitting MP, Yogi Adityanath as their chief guest. It was obvious that due to the dearth of any talent in the entire saffron brigade, leave alone any remarkable academician, the ABVP can only count on arch reactionaries like the communal thug Adityanath to address its programme. In order to make this event successful the ABVP goons not only misused the name of the Allahabad University Students Union President Richa Singh, but also tried to vitiate the atmosphere of the university by spreading communal hatred and tension.

The progressive students of the Allahabad University, barring those from the upper caste Hindu feudal families of Uttar Pradesh, rallied together in unity to oppose the campus visit of a douchebag like Yogi Adityanath and strongly resisted the attempts of the Allahabad University ABVP to drive a wedge between the students using communal propaganda. The progressive and democratic students unitedly declared that they do not oppose any programme organised by the ABVP, but a communal fascist conspirator like Yogi Adityanath, who can only be considered good in the role of a hate monger, cannot be invited to the university campus and allowed to ignite fire of communal riot through his trademark hate speeches.

Despite all threats and intimidations by the ABVP goons, the broad rank of students stood firm on their stand, which forced the Allahabad administration to impose restriction on the entry of the notorious riot monger in the city and compelled Yogi to flee from the scene sensing more trouble for himself. This retreat was a defeat for the ABVP in the campus of Allahabad University, which has acted as good recruiting ground for the saffron terror forces in the past.

The defeat caused immense frustration among the ABVP leadership, who kept on searching for an opportunity to lash out against the progressive and democratic forces within the prestigious central university. Their wait culminated with the visit of Siddharth Varadrajan to the campus.

Alike wild beasts, the saffron brigade jumped on the journalist and tried to humiliate him with all sort of abuses and accusations that they can come up with. Though that did not troubled the journalist, but made the ABVP a subject of ridicule and pity all over the nation, as it was well evident that these toddlers of the Nagpur fascist factory were expressing their frustration after they faced severe failures in replicating some amount of intellectual trends of the progressive and democratic camp.

The ABVP supporters also acted ludicrously when they tried to show similarities between their rowdy activities during the visit of Siddharth Varadrajan and the collective protest and resistance movement by the progressive and democratic students against the visit of the communal fascist hate monger Yogi Adityanath. Their infantile attempt to compare both individuals received the best possible reaction from the people across the country, condemnation.

Through their repeated attempt to create political space or media attention through their hooliganism and barbaric assault on students, teachers, academicians, literary figures, journalists, and anyone else who holds a critical view, the ABVP has manifested the utmost bankruptcy of their politics. Yet they exist in the campus due to immense funding from big corporate bodies, strong support from the students with feudal background and casteist forces.

The biggest question that now arise is whether the Union HRD minister and Sangh activist Smriti Irani will take any step to direct the university authority to punish those hoodlums who created the ruckus during the visit of a veteran journalist? She did it for Rohith Vemula and his comrades when the BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya complained about them. Her actions along with that of the BJP minister Dattatreya and Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor killed a young talent. Now it is time to see how she acts, whether like the pious Tulsi who stood for justice or that regular vamp in the Ekta Kapoor soaps who keeps on hatching conspiracies one after another.

Most of us know the answer, most of us know that status quo will prevail and injustice will be given priority over justice as that is the DNA of the Brahminist fascism. However, many still can keep their faith on the system and expect justice being done by an atrocious regime that survives by promoting extreme fascism and bigotry in the country.
